Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Corandel LLC (“we”, “us”), the company that publishes the EffAktiv app, collects, uses, shares and protects your information when you use the app on iOS, Android or the web.
Data we collect and how
- Account information, from the sign-in method you choose: with Sign in with Apple or Google, the email address, name (if shared) and account identifier that provider gives us; with an email code, your email address. Guest accounts are identified by an app-generated ID only.
- Lesson input, which you type or paste: topics, scenarios, dialogues and sentences, and the languages and level you choose.
- Lessons and vocabulary, which the app creates from that input: lesson texts, translations, the words you look up or save, and your exercise progress.
- Voice recordings, made with your microphone when you record yourself reading a lesson. A recording is uploaded only when you ask for a pronunciation analysis.
- Device identifier: an app-generated ID used to link guest accounts and enforce usage limits.
How we use your data
- To provide the service: generating lessons, word details and audio, and analysing your pronunciation.
- To maintain your account and sync your lessons and progress across devices.
- To enforce fair usage limits.
We do not use your data for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.
AI services: what we share with Google
EffAktiv’s lessons, audio and pronunciation analysis are produced by AI services from Google LLC. Your data passes through our server, which sends only the content each feature needs:
- Google Gemini API, to generate lessons: your topic, scenario or pasted text, and the languages and level you chose. For word details: the word. For vocabulary entries: the word and the sentence it appears in. To analyse pronunciation: your voice recording and the lesson text you read.
- Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, to create lesson audio: the lesson text to be spoken and the voice chosen.
We do not send Google your name, email address, or account or device identifiers. We use these services under Google’s paid API and Google Cloud terms. Under those terms, Google processes the data only to provide the service to us and does not use it to train its models. Google applies security and confidentiality protections at least equal to those described in this policy.
In the iOS app, nothing is sent to these services until you agree to an in-app notice describing the above. You can review or withdraw that agreement at any time in Info → Settings → AI data sharing. Withdrawing stops further sharing; it does not delete data already sent (see “Data retention and deletion”).
Other service providers
- Apple and Google sign-in: authentication, if you choose them.
- Email delivery provider: sends your sign-in code to your email address.
- Cloud object storage: stores your voice recordings for our server.
- Speech recognition during dictation and roleplay exercises uses your device’s or browser’s own speech service (Apple on iOS, Google on Android; on the web, your browser’s provider). These services run under the platform’s own permission prompt. We do not receive or store that audio.
The app contains no advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. Guest (anonymous) accounts and their data expire automatically after a period of inactivity. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data, including voice recordings, at any time from within the app: Info → Settings → Delete Account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this URL.
